David Krause
David Krause has been in journalism since high school and his first published story was in the Bethany (Okla.) Tribune-Review in September 1982. He joined the Sun in June 2022.
David was the editor at The Aspen Times from 2017 to 2022, and before that spent 17 years at The Denver Post, first working in the sports department as a deputy sports editor for 15 years, then as a deputy city editor with many of the other Sun reporters and editors. Before The Denver Post, David was at the sports editor Loveland Reporter-Herald from 1995-2000. He started working at the Daily Oklahoman in high school answering phones in the newsroom and worked his way up while going to college before moving to Colorado.
David has covered major sports events — including the Super Bowl, Stanley Cup, World Series, World Cup skiing —and news events such as the 2008 DNC, local and state politics, major wildfires and other breaking news.
Born in Detroit, David moved to Oklahoma City in fourth grade. After stops in Loveland, Westminster, Aspen and Snowmass Village, he now lives in Salida with his wife, who he met at the Oklahoman, and they have two grown children.
David spends much of his free time doing anything in the Colorado outdoors: hiking, camping, fishing, snowboarding, rafting and enjoys talking with the people who make up this great state.
